Metric specifications

Volvo service literature is written using the metric system for measurement. SAE conversions may be shown; however, please note that they are provided only for convenience and may not be exact, i.e., may be rounded equivalents.

Caution:
Only use metric specifications for critical operations, e.g., crankshaft bearing clearance or engine tolerances.

If it is necessary that you use SAE measurements for engine specifications, first verify them using only the following formula:

25.4 millimeters = 1 inch (decimal)

Example:

63.451 mm divided by 25.4 = 2.4981 inches
